Buttercream Basics 101 Cost:$60/person +HST
Ever want to learn the basics in buttercream when it comes to cake decorating? In this 3 hour class, students will bring with them, their ready-to-go, single tiered baked cake ready for filling. You will learn the proper way to torte your cake to ensure a level cake everytime and how to fill your cake with delicious filling. We will cover how to get a smooth buttercream finish on your cake and learn simple border piping techniques, the basketweave and the buttercream rose. All supplies included.
1 night – 3 hours Date: August 7th, 6:00-9:00pm
Fondant Basics and Dėcor 101 Cost: $155/person +HST
In this two night course, students will leave with a fully decorated 2-tiered Styrofoam cake to display. Instructor will complete the cake along with the students on real cake to demonstrate the difference between real and fake cakes. Techniques covered will be covering a cake in fondant, basic piping, use of silicone molds and cutters and embossing techniques. Students will also be taught how to make sugar bows, fantasy flowers, buttons and numbers that stand up, to adorn your finished cake with. All supplies included.
2 nights – 3 hours each (total 6 hours) Date: August 28th-29th, 6:00-9:00pm
Gumpaste Flowers 101 Cost: $175/person +HST
Flowers, flowers, flowers! In this 2-day class, students will learn to make a Gumpaste rose, carnation, hydrangea, daisy, calla lily, stargazer lily and leaves. Day one will focus on making the flowers in their different stages, whereas, day two will focus primarily on dusting and bringing the flowers to their realistic stage! Students will then make a display of their flowers in a vase to take home. All Supplies Included.
2 days – 4 hours each (total 8 hours) Date: September 30th/October 7th, 12:00-4:00pm
Wedding Cakes 101 Cost: $225/person +HST
In this full day class, students will learn the basics of making a wedding cake. Students will leave with a fully decorated 3-tier Styrofoam cake to display. The instructor will complete with cake along with the students on real cake to demonstrate the differences between real and fake cake. Techniques covered will be covering a cake with fondant, covering and enhancing a cake board with fondant, advanced piping techniques, the use of silicone molds and cutters, embossing techniques and how to make the ever-so-popular quilting pattern. Students will also learn to make a fabric fantasy flower to adorn their cake. Also covered in this class, will be the proper technique to stacking tiered cakes. All supplies and LUNCH included.
1 day – total 6 hours Date: October 27th, 9:00am – 3:00pm
Giant Cupcake Class Cost: $200/person +HST
Ever want to learn how to make these crazy giant cupcake cakes? Here’s your chance! In this 2-night class, students will leave with a completely edible version of our favourite dessert! Techniques in this class will include: covering and enhancing a cake board in fondant, covering and decorating a cake in fondant, carving cakes, basic airbrushing and how to properly stack a cake. All Supplied Included.
Prerequisite: Fondant Basics 101 or equivalent fondant experience
