FAQ

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions that we see at Country Girl Cakes! Please feel free to email us with your question if you don't see it in the list below :)

Wedding/Celebration Cakes

  1. How much do your cakes/cupcakes cost?

Our cakes are priced by design, varying according to the complexity of your design and the time invested in its creation. The final price is determined by the design and the number of servings you select. However, most cakes will fall into these basic ranges:

    Fondant cakes: $5.00 - $9.50 per serving

    Carved cakes: $6.00 - $12.00 per serving

Speciality Cupcakes, regular size: $2.50 - $5.00 each

    Mini Cupcakes: $1.00 - $1.75 each

    Mini Cakes : $6 - $15 each

  2. How far in advance do I need to book a cake?

Country Girl Cakes cares a lot about the quality of our cakes - to ensure that, we limit the number of cakes that we take every week. Celebration cakes, such as birthdays, anniversaries and showers, are best to book at least 2-3 weeks in advance and Wedding Cakes are best to book 6-9 months in advance to ensure availability. With that being said, it doesn't hurt to call to see if we might have a last minute space available! Please call or email to confirm availability.

  3. Do you require a deposit?

Yes, all wedding cakes and cakes over $300.00 require a 50% deposit at the time of booking to secure the date on our calender.

  4. Do you offer private tastings or open house tastings?

Country Girl Cakes provides private consultations and tastings for every wedding cake and cake ordered over $300.00.

  5. When are your consultations?

Consultations are available by appointment only, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am-11am and 5pm-8pm. Please call or email to arrange. As we have many weekend events to prepare cakes for, we are unable to accommodate Friday and Saturday requests for consultations.

  6. How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?

Country Girl Cakes typically schedules 5-6 cakes per weekend, with no more than 2 weddings. We want to ensure the quality of the cake, rather than the quantities of cakes.

  7. Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles?

All of our cakes are custom designed for each individual client. With that being said, please feel free to bring pictures with you that you have found inspiration in for your consultation, and we can design a cake based on that picture.

  8. On average, how far in advance of the event do you prepare the cake?

Cakes are baked/iced/decorated all within 1-2 days of the event depending on how busy we are that particular weekend.

  9. Will you work with the client's florist to garnish the cake?

Not all flowers and greenery are safe to use on a cake. Fresh flowers should NEVER be inserted into your cake. With that being said, Country Girl Cakes will contact the florist to discuss the arrangement of the flowers on the cake if you provide us with the contact information. However, your florist is responsible for all arranging on the cake.

  10. Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee?

Yes, we offer delivery and in fact, we prefer to deliver your cake. Delivery is calculated according to mileage based upon the physical address of the delivery site and driving route of mapquest.com; some locations may have a flat rate. Our typical delivery area includes Cornwall, Ottawa, and Kingston with all areas in between; however, we have delivered a number of times to Orleans, Toronto, and even Waterloo!
